The work
Where the expensive damage starts
Roofline work covers the fascia, soffit and guttering that run along the edge of the roof. We strip the old timber or UPVC, check the rafter feet and replace any rotten timber, then fit new UPVC fascia, vented soffit and guttering set to the correct fall. It usually gets done because paint is peeling off timber, a gutter overflows every time it rains, or a stain is spreading down the brickwork.
The board behind the gutter carries the brackets and closes off the rafter ends, so once it goes soft the whole gutter line goes with it. Replacing in UPVC ends the repainting cycle for good, protects the roof edge and the wall below, and vented soffits let the roof space breathe so condensation does not build up in the loft.
We check the rafter feet while the old boards are off, so any hidden rot is dealt with rather than boarded over, and we match the run so it looks right across the whole house. The old material is taken away and the price is agreed in writing first.

Pricing
What moves the price
Every roof is different, so the quote follows a look at yours rather than a figure over the phone. The roof, and the loft where the fault is a leak, both get checked before anything is priced.
The quote you get back is itemised: access, materials, labour and clearing the site. Where the job needs scaffold, that goes in the figure from the start, not added later. The points on the right are what make the biggest difference to where the price lands.
What we look at
- The total length of the run and how many storeys up it sits
- How much rafter end or timber repair is needed once the old board is off
- Whether bargeboards and cladding are included
- Colour and profile, since woodgrain and non-white finishes cost more than white
- Scaffold or tower access
