The work
A flat roof is not actually flat
A flat roof is not actually flat. It needs a fall of around 1 in 80 so rainwater runs to the outlet instead of sitting in a pool. We strip the failed covering, check and replace any soft decking, correct the fall with new firrings, and re-cover in GRP fibreglass, EPDM rubber or torch-on felt to suit the roof. Extensions, garages, dormers and porches are the usual jobs.
Getting the fall and the detailing right means the roof drains properly and stays watertight for the long term, not just until the next heavy downpour. A warm-roof build-up with upgraded insulation also makes the room underneath warmer and cheaper to heat.
Where an old roof has ponded we correct the firrings underneath rather than covering the problem over, and we talk you through which covering makes sense for your roof and your budget. The price is itemised and the site is left clean.

Trims and outlet detail first, then the membrane, finished in one visit where the weather holds.
Pricing
What moves the price
Every roof is different, so the quote follows a look at yours rather than a figure over the phone. The roof, and the loft where the fault is a leak, both get checked before anything is priced.
The quote you get back is itemised: access, materials, labour and clearing the site. Where the job needs scaffold, that goes in the figure from the start, not added later. The points on the right are what make the biggest difference to where the price lands.
What we look at
- The area of the roof and how much of the deck needs replacing
- Which covering you go with
- Whether the fall needs correcting with new firrings
- Insulation, if the roof is being brought up to a warm roof build-up
- Access, and whether the roof can be reached from ground level
